GOLDEN GLOBES 2013 - THE VERDICT

Image
Yes it's Golden Globes time again and the results are in! As ever, it's a mixed bag but hey, when are awards ceremonies ever completely right? Let's begin with: BEST MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA Ben Affleck sure has come a long way since Daredevil.  His film Argo winning Best Motion Picture over the favourite, Steven Spielberg's  Lincoln , Kathryn Bigelow's other intense war-themed flick  Zero Dark Thirty , Ang Lee's visual treat Life Of PI and Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained is definitely confirmation that Affleck is finally getting recognised as not only being a good actor but a fine director as well. Argo, to be perfectly honest, wasn't the best film I'd seen all year and I don't think it's one I'll remember years from now. That said, I can't deny that I enjoyed watching it and that it was, indeed, very well made. The more light-hearted parts of the film I didn't find quite as sharp as they should have been but oth

BATTLE OF THE CATWOMEN

Image
Catwoman is a character we've seen being interpreted in very different ways over the years. Whether she's an anti-hero, a misunderstood crime-fighter or a straight-up villain, there's no denying she's one of the best Batman characters out there so through this little homage, lets take a look at some of the main Catwomen out there and see who truly nailed the part. JULIE NEWMAR Batman: The TV Series (1966) Easily my favourite Catwoman from the TV series, Julie Newmar had it all: sexy, beautiful, manipulative, ever-so-slightly crazy, adorable... perfect. Poor old Adam West, having to resist such devilish cat-charm every single time. Mostly, this Catwoman just wanted to toy with The Bat, Newmar was having fun with it and it shows. She made the character quirky and a lot of fun to watch, giving the show one of its best, less stupid, most entertaining villains. The coolest 60's cat out there. Meow Rating: 4/5 EARTHA KITT Batman: The TV Series (

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - TRAILER BREAKDOWN

Image
Well, we're like 10 trailers in and although I'm getting more and more excited about The Dark Knight Rises , I'm still thinkin' all these teasers are hiding a hell of a lot from us. Still don't know whether Anne Hathaway's Catwoman will work at all, we'll see I guess... Anyway: This first trailer brings together some brief new footage with familiar stuff but the addition of a bombastic score and some nifty fast-paced editing just makes it all that little bit more epic. "Mr Wayne..." This TV spot also brings in some short bursts of new stuff including: Whatever's happening here... Bat pod jump... Bat plane... Gotta love that Bat plane... And Batmanuel... Can't wait :)

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - FIRST CATWOMAN PIC

Image
Well, it looks like we're finally able to take a look at Anne Hathaway's take on Catwoman for Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises . Here's the pic: Um, ok... Not sure I get it, you guys. The carnival mask, the bluetooth headsets, the Batpod... This is clearly BATGIRL.  She looks like a cat like I look like Michelle Pfeiffer (I don't).  Lets wait till we get a decent image/poster before judging Rises but... *crosses fingers*
